How to Prepare a Room for a Permanent AV Installation
AV installation planning should start as early as possible — ideally during the design or renovation phase. Proper infrastructure preparation avoids costly rework later and ensures a clean finish with no visible cables or makeshift solutions.
Structured cabling is the foundation of every AV installation. HDMI, HDBaseT, Ethernet and audio cables should be routed through walls or under raised floors before interior finishing begins. During planning we define cable routes and specify junction-box locations — at the presenter's desk, in the equipment rack and at the projector or display.
Dedicated power supply — AV equipment requires separate electrical circuits, ideally with surge-protected UPS power. A ceiling-mounted laser projector, a motorised screen, amplifiers and a control processor each need a power outlet in the right place. We provide exact power specifications before electrical work begins.
LAN and Wi-Fi are increasingly important in a modern conference room. Crestron and Extron control systems communicate over the network, and wireless presentation tools (Barco ClickShare, Mersive Solstice) need stable Wi-Fi. We plan access points and VLAN configuration together with the client's IT department.
Ceiling and wall load capacity determines how screens and projectors are mounted. A 75" display weighs around 40 kg and requires a reinforced bracket on a solid wall. A ceiling projector needs a dedicated mount with service access. These requirements are easiest to meet during construction.
