Stage Lighting Technical Requirements — What You Need to Know Before Your Event
Professional stage lighting calls for proper technical preparation on the venue side. Understanding these requirements helps you avoid surprises on event day and plan the budget with no hidden costs.
Electrical supply is the single most important factor. A lighting rig for a corporate gala (20–30 LED fixtures) typically draws 5–8 kW, whereas a full concert production with 100+ fixtures, moving heads and effects can require 30–50 kW. Before the show we verify the availability of three-phase power outlets (32A/63A) and, where needed, supply our own generator.
Rigging points and ceiling load capacity determine whether the lighting can be flown on overhead truss or must stand on ground-support towers and tripods. Venues with rigging points rated at 500 kg or more allow for dramatic overhead designs. In venues without rigging points, we use free-standing ground-support structures that require no ceiling intervention.
Ceiling height affects fixture selection and beam angles. In rooms under 3.5 m we use wide-angle wash and flood fixtures to illuminate the stage evenly. Halls 5 m and higher give full creative freedom for moving-head effects, tight spot beams and atmospheric looks.
